Well described, believable and with likeable characters throughout, Girls Who Score managed to never felt repetitive despite the obviously strong jock theme in each story.
The cover of Girls Who Score shows a glisteningly sweaty, sports bra wearing woman clutching a sports bottle and giving the camera a natural but scorching look.
The back cover reads:
Girl jocks always manage to see a lot of action off the field. Female athletes have an easy confidence about them, a natural nonchalance and a killer bod that draws all to them- straight, lesbian bisexual, you name it. Girls who score is a winner, filled with story after story of competitive, intriguing women engaging in all kinds of contact sport.
Featuring 16 short stories spread out over roughly 170 pages, each story averages at around 11 pages long, being short enough to read when short on time and looking for a quickie but long enough to develop a feel for each of the stories characters and of course long enough to reach orgasm when combined with the company of your favourite vibrator.
As I have found with other Cleis Press books in my collection, the standard of writing in Girls Who Score proved to be high, and hot!
With the first story being by one of my favourite erotic authors, Sommer Marsden, this book got off (do excuse the pun) to a great start with Chairs - the tale of a woman and her confident basketball coach who offers her one on one training. Finding her coaches sure of herself attitude attractive to the point that she blushes and stumbles when around her, Andi is nervously excited when she finds herself alone with the ever confident coach Chevy in what turns out to be teaching of a different kind than basketball.
Another story that stood out for me was Facing The Music by Kiki DeLovely. Its the story of a lesbian couple heading to a twenty-five year school reunion which is that of a conservative catholic school. Confident that they are going to be the only queer couple there, Nic and her partner are in for a night of close-minded company, despite the apparent risk of stiff boredom, they manage to sneak of and keep themselves entertained in Nics old school locker room.
At the end of the book you will find a short description of each author featured in the book with their writing achievements given mention and a short section on the editor included too. This page even ends with an email address and open invitation to send your feedback on the book.
