£30 enables ACCM (UK) to run a workshop educating men from migrant and BME communities about the harmful practices of FGM, FM and domestic violence - a crucial step in helping put a stop to these practices in their communities.
It was great to get a call from Sh! to talk about their charity gift project and to give us the opportunity to take part. On behalf of ACCM (UK) Trustees, volunteers, users and supporters I would like to state our support for the project and for all that Sh! stands for. Sh! is a great organisation and the UK's first and only store exclusively dedicated to women's sexuality. The Sh! Charity Gift Initiative will enable various charities to make a real difference to individual women's lives. " - Sarah McCulloch, Director, ACCM (UK)
ACCM (UK) evolved from the charity, Agency for Culture and Change Management - Sheffield, whose primary role was to lobby for and communicate the effects of legislation concerning Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and other harmful traditional practices such as Forced Marriage (FM) and Honour Based Violence (HBV) in the UK.
Whilst working to improve the health, safety and status of girls and women, particularly in black and minority ethnic communities (BME), we also work closely with boys and men to ensure that they play their role in tackling all forms of abuse against the female gender. It is well known that men hold the power in many migrant communities and targeting men has been crucial in initiating change.
You or your recipient will be sent a specially designed gift magnet - a wee 'thank you' for donating a positive and practical gift that will make a real difference to another woman's sexuality.
