£10 helps pay for literary workbooks for rape survivors in the City of Joy, to help women turn their pain into power when they re-enter their communities.
V-Day are really excited to be involved with Sh! Not only does this Sh! project celebrate female sexuality and promote good sexual health, but it is helping to make a real difference in the lives of women. These donations will help to rebuild lives, break down taboos and join women together in solidarity." - Doireann Larkin, Campaign Co-ordinator, V-Day UK
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is widely accepted to be the most dangerous place in the world for women. Each year thousands of women and girls are subjected to brutal rapes with almost total impunity for perpetrators.
V-Day are currently participating in a project to build a special facility for the survivors of sexual violence in Bukavu, DRC. Conceived, created and developed by the women on the ground, the City of Joy will support women survivors of sexual violence to heal, and provide them with opportunities to develop their leadership through innovative programming including comprehensive sexuality education.
You or your recipient will be sent a specially designed gift magnet - a wee 'thank you' for donating a positive and practical gift that will make a real difference to another woman's sexuality
