I have a pile of sex stuff. I’m not sure what the correct way to store and organise my sex toys is but I guess it isn’t ‘heap in drawer’. We have a little of everything so what’s the best way to go?
This is a great question and definitely something to consider when you’re buying your sex toys!
You do have to be a bit careful storing your toys, if you store silicone toys together it can damage their surfaces (this is also why you shouldn’t use silicone lube for a silicone toy).
They can also attract a lot of fluff and it’s important to keep them clean and hygienic. You should also store different materials separately.
You should clean your toys and check them for damage when you store them. You can clean toys with toy cleaner or hot water and antibacterial soap. Some silicone toys and glass toys with no electrical parts might be able to sterilize by boiling or putting through a dishwasher cycle. But make sure you check it is safe to do so for that particular toy!
We’d also recommend leaving your toys to air dry before storing them. This way you should avoid any small particles sticking to them. You should also always store your toys with the batteries (if they have batteries) taken out as this will help them to retain their charge. Nothing worse than reaching for a flat sex toy.
We’ve also had a couple of great tips in the comments! Store your lube in ziplock bags to keep it from getting everywhere, you can also use these to store floggers or similar toys that might be prone to tangling. It’s also suggested that you use nylon stockings as a cheap cheat to keep your toys separate.
We hope this helps! If you have any other questions send them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like advice from Psychosexual Therapist Sarah Berry include the subject line ‘Ask Sarah’.
