Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Every October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. An international campaign organised by the major breast cancer charities to raise funds and increase awareness.

During the month of October, Sh! is donating ££’s from a range of our most pink and most popular

toys to Breakthrough Breast Cancer (www.breakthrough.org.uk) and have been hosting events and exhibitions at both stores.

The Breast Cancer Awareness sign seems to have sparked something in the store, and we have talked to, cried with, giggled with and hugged some amazing women. The first woman was a 4 time breast cancer survivor. She was *amazing* and hilarious! Before she left, she gave us some brilliant advice ‘Grab life by the balls… and play with the ass’

We’ve also had visits from some inspiring and brave women who have been dealing with vaginismus and cervical cancer.

Earlier in the month, Tutu and Ashley Savage collaborated on the performance Cancer Sucks at Sh! Portobello (Unit 4, 253 Portobello Road, W11 1LR). Tutu is a brave and inspirational woman who, with the help of Ashley Savage’s stunning photography, has documented her battle with breast cancer.

A selection of photographs from Cancer Sucks are on display at Sh! Hoxton for the rest of October. Visit Ashley’s website www.savageskin.co.uk to see more of the series.
