Supporting young lesbians made homeless because of their sexuality
£50 will go towards training a volunteer mentor, ensuring that each young lesbian in our care can meet with a positive role model to help her through her difficulties.
We are very excited to be a beneficiary charity for the Sh! gift aid initiative. Every year dozens of young women contact us because they have been made homeless as a result of their sexuality and are in crisis. The money raised from this Sh! project will go towards helping the young LGBT people in our care. Without initiatives such as this we simply couldn't support everyone."
- Jonathan Penny, Fundraising & Communications Officer, The Albert Kennedy Trust. The Albert Kennedy Trust works with young people up to the age of 25 who have been made homeless because they are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT). Currently we cover Greater London and Greater Manchester and receive over 1,500 calls per year. Many of our young people have been rejected by their parents or bullied at school just for being brave enough to come out as LGB or T.
You or your recipient will be sent a specially designed gift magnet - a wee 'thank you' for donating a positive and practical gift that will make a real difference to another woman's sexuality.
